La Transjurassienne skimarathon

La Transjurassienne is a ski marathon with heart, involving people from surrounding villages—young and old alike. When locals are not busy organizing the event, they are cheering along the course!

There is even talk of the “Transju spirit”—the excitement and enthusiasm that spectators share with participants along the entire route.

About the Ski Marathon

La Transju Nordic is the largest ski event in France, bringing together ski enthusiasts from all over the world. It is a large-scale community-driven sporting event supported by both local residents and businesses. What makes the marathon special is the stunning scenery of the Jura Mountains, offering both beautiful views and exciting terrain.

The first Transjurassienne ski marathon took place in 1980, with a freestyle distance of 76 km. Today, the distance is 6 km shorter, but it still remains the longest freestyle race in the Worldloppet series.

The races are held in both classic and freestyle techniques:
Saturday, February 13: Classic races (25 km and 50 km)
Sunday, February 14: Freestyle races (25 km, 50 km, and 70 km)

La Transju Nordic is part of a larger event series, which also includes:
La Transju Trail (trail running in June, 5–80 km distances)
La Transju Cyclo (road cycling in autumn, 65–255 km distances)

The region is also known for its fruit farms, as well as cheese and wine production—so there’s plenty of great local food to enjoy!

In the sports world, the area has also hosted stages of the Tour de France, most recently in 2022. It’s also common to see both former and current top French cross-country skiers at the start line—come and challenge yourself alongside them!
