Kartitsch is an idyllic alpine village at an altitude of 1,356 meters, located in the Lesachtal Valley amid the stunning Tyrolean Alps. This location is known as a winter hiking paradise.
In addition to ski touring trails, there are also several walking paths in the surrounding area, all accompanied by breathtaking mountain views. Kartitsch will be our home base, but we will also visit Obertilliach, a charming town just a 10-minute drive away.
The Golzentipp ski resort (2,317 m) in Obertilliach has even been featured in the 2015 James Bond film during its production.

Ski Touring adventure
Ski touring gives you the freedom to go wherever you want—beyond the reach of ski lifts. It’s an exciting and addictive way to explore the mountains, especially for those who enjoy endurance sports. The altitude and steep climbs make it a great challenge! That’s part of the magic—after a long climb, the downhill ride feels even more rewarding and enjoyable.
Ski touring combines uphill hiking with downhill skiing in fresh powder. You can move freely across the mountains, climbing slopes and gliding down untouched snow. It’s an incredible feeling of freedom! Special climbing skins attached to the skis prevent slipping when moving uphill, allowing you to hike at your own pace—sometimes for hours—before enjoying the thrill of the descent.
Exciting news: ski touring will be included as an official Olympic sport for the first time in the 2026 Winter Games! Even top athletes describe it as “a fun way to explore untouched trails.”

On the first day of the trip, we’ll get used to our skis and get a good feel for the slopes at the local Golzentipp ski resort. We’ll introduce our exciting program and go through some technical exercises along with a safety training session. This way, you can start off strong, and we can get a better idea of your expectations and experience.
In the following days, we’ll explore a new and exciting trail each day. A local ski touring guide will join us, choosing routes that are suitable for everyone, fun, and keep the adventure going. The small, private group also gives us more flexibility to adapt to everyone’s preferences.
Each day, we’ll spend about 6–7 hours outdoors, enjoying the fresh air, taking photos, admiring the views, and simply relaxing. One of the days will be a lighter rest day, where you can unwind, visit a spa, or even sled down a 7 km track from the top of a local mountain!
May I participate?
To join, you should have good overall physical fitness and endurance to spend long hours outdoors, moving both uphill and downhill. For descents, excellent alpine skiing skills are essential. It’s a plus if you have experience skiing at resorts outside Estonia or have completed our “Ski Touring ABC” course in the Dolomite Alps, Italy.
We adjust the choice of routes, ascent lengths, and pace based on participants’ preferences and skill levels. This trip is also well-suited for those who practice endurance sports.

“Ski touring is quite exciting and much more diverse than I initially thought. A great way to discover untouched areas where you just can’t reach with mountain lifts. I also liked the avalanche training, which was very practical,” shared Rasmus (2024).
Merli added that ski touring is a cool combination of hiking in the mountains and alpine skiing – I was very happy with the trip!
Additional options
At the same time and in the same area, there will be a ski training camp with Raul Olle. Participants also have the opportunity to join the Dolomitenlauf ski marathon or cheer on fellow skiers! Additionally, cross-country ski trails leading towards Obertilliach are accessible from our hotel.
