Obertilliach is located 1450 meters above the sea level, in the Lesachtal valley, in the middle of the wonderful Triooli Alps. The valley’s highest alpine village’s history reaches back to more than 750 years.
Today, the alpine village is a valued ski resort, where different ski competitions are organized, both biathlon, and cross country skiing. The Golzentipp ski resort (2317m) would delight Alpine skiing enthusiasts.
Its peak was also the filming location for winter scenes in a James Bond movie in 2015.

Trip description
This is a great opportunity to gain ski kilometers on high level tracks, and if desired, you can also participate in the Dolomitenlauf ski marathon, taking place at the start of the camp.
Trainings are built up according to the participants’ level, so that every ski enthusiast finds a new and different kind of confidence and a greater sense of enjoyment. For that to be both on descents, ascents, on straight tracks and curves.
Raul is definitely going to share his experiences from his successful marathon career, to those who are interested in taking part in the marathon. A more precise camp plan is going to be announced at the destination, depending on snow conditions and participants experience/ desires.
You can ski along the trails running through the Lesachtal Valley, where both classic and free technique skiing options are available.
Right at the start of the trip, from the 17th to the 18th of January, the Dolomitenlauf ski festival is taking place at the same location, where if desired, you can participate in 5 km, 21 km and 42 km marathons. Free technique is on Saturday and on Sunday classic distances are covered.
The Dolomitenlauf classic ski marathon is the easiest profile marathon from the Worldloppet ski marathons- on a smoothly descending line, you almost glide through it! The free technique marathon trail is also considered among the easier ones, the easiest free technique marathon course in the world is only in Engadine, Switzerland. So in short, both trails are even suitable for those, who have not covered long distances or participated in ski marathons before.
On a very good winter the classic technique trails glide through the Heinfelsi city, Lenzi, the free technique marathon takes place circling around the Obertilliach alpine village, where depending on the chosen distance, 1-2 laps should be completed. If the winter is expected to have less snow, then both marathons are organised with a start and finish at the notorious biathlon stadium in Obertilliach.

Our accommodation is close in proximity, just 500 meteres away, from the Golzentipp ski resort: 16 km of descents at various levels and stunning views from an altitude on 2300 meters.
In Obertilliach a lot of attention is paid towards nature preservation and to stustanible tourism, holding raising animals, clean food and the alpines long history in high regard. European journalists have started to call the region, Lesachtal valley, with a proud and prestigious title- “Enviromentally friendliest valley in Europe.”
As you stroll through this idyllic place, you can feel the local peace, quiet, and romance. Obertilliach is most commonly visited by sport enthusiasts and lovers and top athletes, that being said, the location provides ideal all year- round training opportunities.

Accommodation is arranged in rooms of two, and the hotel provides breakfast and dinner. There is a separate room for storing ski equipment.
“The travel group was great- people, who respect and appreciate skiing, but don’t take it overly seriously. Throughout the camp, a good balance between trainings and rest were maintained, our coach Raul Olle was all- around great and gave several useful tips for improving our progress on the ski trail (including staging upright).
Oh, and if you’re already going on the trip, make sure to participate in the Marcialonga marathon as well. Whatever your skiing skills may be, you will be able to do it. 70 kilometers, about 50 kilometers are descending (downhill),” shared Lennart.
